A Wringer Washer Giveaway

This is Loft Creations' newest pattern, designed by Stephanie. A very fun quilt to make and what I liked most about it is the dark background used in the border blocks and using the same block design  for the middle piece as for the border, but than in two different sizes. I quilted with golden thread, which gives a nice effect, but cost me 4 machine needles ...
Please head over to Loft Creations, to admire Stephanie's beautiful version and the story behind this pattern!

Big block

Small blocks

I was lucky the weather was so sunny. Makes the quilt even more beautiful!
Gelukkig schijnt de zon heerlijk vandaag. Dat maakt de quilt nog mooier!

Stephanie is so kind to give away a copy of her newest pattern. If you want a chance to win, please leave a comment and if possible tell me if you have any tips when machine quilting with golden thread. I will let you know who the winner is on Wednesday.

Love the quilt. I never use golden thread since I'm not very experienced with machine quilting.

Beautiful quilt! I love when a simple design makes such a stunning finished quilt. I've never worked with golden thread so no help here.

Joan zei

Such a lovely quilt! Sorry, I have never used golden thread. Thank you for the generous giveaway.

Mooie quilt.

Beautiful quilt, It really is a terrific pattern, so many possibilities. I love the fabrics you'v used in this. I tried a few years ago to use golden thread and found it difficult, so I took what I quilted out and used plain thread. I wonder if I should have played with the tension a little bit.

Solstitches zei

I love Stephanie's designs and this one is another winner.
I love your version of the little quilt - very pretty.
I have no idea what golden thread is I'm afraid unless you mean metallic thread of some kind?

All I know is that when you use metallic thread you need a metallic needle...love the way you have quilted this little beauty!! I would love to win the pattern...thanks for the chance!

What a lovely quilt.
I have never quilted with metallic thread, but like the person above me - know you are supposed to use a special needle.
I even have one in my stash - so maybe, if I win this pattern, is the time to try it :)

Nancy zei

Lovely!! The quilting is beautiful...I have never used anything except cotton to machine quilt so am no help to you with the Golden Thread!

pam zei

I am not an experienced machine quilter either. I hope someone can give you a tip on using the thread.

Beautiful quilt. Both versions are great.

Sooo pretty, Simone! I always love your choice of fabrics/prints--you have such a great eye for pairing colors. I've not quilting by machine with metallic threads before, but have heard they are not easy to use...as us experienced. Hope someone may know of a solution. Thank you for the fun giveaway... please count me in. And thanks for joining the fun at my place today. ;o) Happy Week ((HUGS))

I really like your quilt - I ~love~ how you quilted it !

thanks for the give-away for ANOTHER of Stephanie's beautiful creations

Love your version.
I don't have any tips for the thread. I don't think I would try to use it myself. I am a chicken when it comes to specialty threads.
Please don't enter me in the giveaway. I have the pattern already. Just wanted to see yours.

Your quilt there has come out very nice indeed.Love the specific pattern from Stephanie! Love your double pinwheel bits in the earlier post as well.
My friend does the machine quilting with metalic threads in big loops, think she uses the regular thread in the bobbin.(away on holiday at the moment,so I can`t ask her). Looking forward to seeing your result:-)

You persevered with the gold thread. Sorry, but I have no tips. I didn't like it when I hand quilted with it last month. You did a wonderful job with the quilt.

Linda zei

Gorgeous, Simome!!!! I love everything about it...the pattern, your choice of fabric and your quilting!!!! Did you use a metallic thread? They are super fussy. When I used it on my sewing machine, I had to use a large needle, cotton in the bobbin and really loosen the top tension. Have you tried Glide thread? It gives you the look of metallic but is a dream to work with.

Sandy zei

I love Stephanie's patterns. This one is really sweet! Would love to win it, thanks for the chance.

I love your version of Wringer Washer, Simone! (I just finished a quilt with the same adorable fabric). It's the perfect holiday table toppper! I'm so glad you've joined the Supreme's!
Cheers!

Liebe Simone,

Beautiful! Use a large eye needle with metallic thread and it has to feed off of the spool from a vertical thread holder, I also decrease my tension a little. Thanks for the chance to win this great pattern!

Ulla zei

Your version is really cute, I like the fabrics and the colours.
I have just only now read about special needles for metallic thread, they have a bigger eye and a groove for the thread. I had already sworn I never use such thread again, but with the special needle I'm ready to try.

Binsa zei

Hi Simone, love a chance to win the pattern for the gorgeous quilt.I am currently re learning machine quilting.....I was told to use normal thread in the bobbin....never used golden needles...Hugs O'faigh

I really like your version of the wringer washer. I love the colors. I have never used metallic thread in quilting so I can't help you there. Thanks for the chance to win.

Sew Useful Designs zei

Hi Simone!

Another wonderful pattern by our lovely Stephanie! Just love your version! As for the gold thread - did you use a 'metallic' needle in your sewing machine? I've always found shiny threads difficult to sew with. The only other thing I can suggest is to try using a different brand, but I can't think of one to recommend, hopefully someone else has some good tricks up their sleeve!

Love seeing what you create Simone!

Hugs in abundance!

ps. Another GREAT quote!!!!

In english: metallic thread needs a special metallic needle with a bigger hole that allowes the thread to run smoothly. Tension also needs to be loosened a little.

Your quilt is beautiful. I love the fabrics you used. I have never used gold thread for machine quilting, so I have no suggestions.

love this quilt Simone - however whilst I have heard of Golden Threads I have not actually used them

Sharon (Stitches on Mars) zei

Lieve Simone,
You've done a wonderful job and I admire your persevernce with the gold thread. I've even found stitching by hand with it difficult at times, though its the thread rather than the needles that break.
Love your choice of fabric too :)
Hugs, Sharon
