Christmas Swaps and Lots of Snow

This year I joined two Christmas swaps, one organized by Chookyblue, Secret Santa Christmas Swap and one by Katrien, Kerstruil.

These are the lovely presents I received from my SSCS partner, Julie. Look at the lovely Christmas items she made for my kitchen. Aren't they adorable! Paper pieced Santa's for an apron and pot holder. And if you click on the picture, you can see the lovely fabric Julie used for the towel. It really makes me smile.
I know the knitted cloth is for the dishes, but I won't be using it for that. Way to pretty. I will be using it as a small table topper (o:
Thank you so much, Julie, for these lovely presents!

And these are the presents I received for the Kerstruil. For each letter of Kerst (short for Christmas in Dutch - Kerstmis) we were asked to have a present for each letter. Lovely Ingrid was my partner. K - klosjes (bobbins), E - etui (pouch), R - rood (red), S - speldenkussen (pin cushion), T - theelichtjes (tea lights).
The pin cushion I will make myself. All the items are added to make an Amish pin cushion - the materials to make it symbolize the Amish traditions. I have never seen anything like it. Lovely!
Thank you too, Ingrid, for these lovely presents!
Unfortunately my swap presents have not arrived my partner yet )o: I hope the will get to her soon!

Meanwhile, we have about 40 cm of snow, which is very unusual for here. And ... we had our very white Christmas (o: Here are some more impressions ...

Thijme and his friend Bjorn decided to build a snow fort on the second day of Christmas. They were outside for hours and as a reward they had a barbecue inside their palace (o:

Lovely pressies, and fancy stars

This week Jos and I got together again for a nice Christmas tea. We had been matched in a Christmas swap last year, so this year we decided to do one again (o:
Look at all the lovely things she got and made for me.

She put everything in the cute little white bag which is embroidered on both sides, which she then put it the Janome bag from ........... Houston (o:

Houston (o:

Jos knows what my favorite color is (o: Do you see the beautiful pincushion. I will be using it for my appliqué pins. And look at the PINK thread. Ah, that is so my color!!! (the picture doesn't do it all right)

Jos was one of the lucky ones to go to the Quilt Market in Houston and she told me she would bring a gadget for me. See the green little square. Well, I attached a siccor to it and now I am able to attach it to a vest or so and that way I will always have my siccors with me. I will use it upstairs with my sewing machine, where I am always looking for my siccors! Jos knows what a girl wants, just like Lyn did with this (scroll down to third picture).
Isn't the Christmas ornament beautiful! Thank you Jos, for all the loveliness!

These are the last blocks I made for the virtual Euro Quilting Bee. They were a lot of fun to make and I love the fabrics that were added to it.

YoYo's, hexagons and Prairie Points

It has been quite a while, since I last made a post, but there were some sad family matters. That is why some things got delayed, but I am starting to catch up.

Here is my Christmas Le Petite project. This was such a very fun project to make. I couldn't stop, once I started, that is, once I finished cutting and ironing the 55 prairie points.
The pattern is a Moda recipe and I used 3" squares instead of 5" squares, thanks to Sherri's directions.

I agreed with Lyn from Bluebird Quilts that I would open her Christmas present on the 3rd Advent. Look at the lovely yo-yo star she made. Isn't it beautiful! And look at the buttons she added to them. I have never seen something like this, Lyn. It is gorgeous!

But that was not all. There was also the cutest pincushion inside with a fine siccor attached to it. Now isn't that something! That way I can't loose my siccors while doing handwork on the couch. I was going to make a leash for my siccors (Laura made the suggestion), but that is no longer necessary. Thank you so much Lyn for your wonderful gifts! They will be treasured!

Here are Laura's computer and cell phone cover for the winter. Someone will recognize the fabrics used for the computer cover ;o) They are so happy!

And I want to end my post with the cutest ornament which I got this week from Carrie at A Passion for Appliqué. On the top it says 'Holiday glow' and you know, it actually does glow! The little red nose is a bead and there is another shiny one on the body. Carrie added ric rac to it too (((o: which I will show you once I used it! Thank you so much Carrie for this lovely surprise! It makes me smile every time I look at it.
