An afternoon finish

A few months ago I joined the Euro Quilting Bee. August was Satu's month, but I was a bit late. She asked us to appliqué flowers in a basket. Somehow it didn't inspire me. All of a sudden, out of nothing, I thought I would make 3D flowers and leaves. I was very satisfied with the result!

This weekend Laura was home. A few weeks ago she bought a mini computer (7"x 12"x 1") and still needed a cover for it. So what do you do in the weekend if you have a little time left over. Right, make a cover for my daughter's computer. I designed it myself and Laura was very happy with it (o: I will soon be making her another one for fall and I am looking forward to the one for Christmas!

This is a sneak peek of a project I am making together with Katrin. I used fabrics for it that I got from Jutta (also used for the flowers in the basket) and the angel fabric is from Gaby.

While you can see the sun shining in the back of the picture, it was pouring outside our house. If your click on the second picture, you can actually see the rain drops. I have never seen this before!

I loved your basket when I first saw it on Flickr Simone, such a clever idea. I made a laptop cover for my son's partner about a year ago and he was very pleased with it. I'm sure your daughter will be very pleased to have something different from other people.

Your basket with flowers turned out fantastic. I am sure Satu will love it. Nice computer cover. Are you going to make one for each season or special time of year? Strange weather like that fascinates me. Did you see a rainbow? Lovely sneak peek too!

Hello Simone,

That basket of flowers is beautiful. You certainly got inspired in the end. Laura's cover for her computer is great, you wouldn't know there was a laptop in there. Happy sewing. Love the quote at the end of the posting.

Hi Simone,
And there's me thinking raindrops were too small and fast for a camera to catch :)
I think 3D flowers was a terrific idea and your basket looks great. My fave is Laura's notebook cover though. I cannot believe you came up with it in such short order without even a pattern...you're a star :D
