An afternoon finish

A few months ago I joined the Euro Quilting Bee. August was Satu's month, but I was a bit late. She asked us to appliqué flowers in a basket. Somehow it didn't inspire me. All of a sudden, out of nothing, I thought I would make 3D flowers and leaves. I was very satisfied with the result!

Een paar maanden geleden ben ik lid geworden van de Euro Quilting Bee. Satu had voor de maand augustus gekozen en zij wilde graag, dat we een mandje met bloemen voor haar zouden appliceren. Ik was niet echt geïnspireerd. Opeens kwam ik op het idee om de bloemen en blaadje 3D te maken. Het resultaat mag er zijn, al zeg ik het zelf.

This weekend Laura was home. A few weeks ago she bought a mini computer (7"x 12"x 1") and still needed a cover for it. So what do you do in the weekend if you have a little time left over. Right, make a cover for my daughter's computer. I designed it myself and Laura was very happy with it (o: I will soon be making her another one for fall and I am looking forward to the one for Christmas!

Dit weekeinde was Laura weer gezellig thuis! Een paar weken geleden had ze een mini computer gekocht (7"x 12"x 1"), maar ze had er nog steeds geen hoesje voor. Dus wat doe je als je in het weekeinde wat tijd overhebt? Juist, dan maak een hoesje voor je dochter. Ik heb het zelf ontworpen en Laura was er erg blij mee (o: Eerdaags zal ik er eentje voor de herfst maken en ik verheug me al op die voor de kerst!

This is a sneak peek of a project I am making together with Katrin. I used fabrics for it that I got from Jutta (also used for the flowers in the basket) and the angel fabric is from Gaby.

Dit is een sneak peek van een project dat ik samen met Katrin maak. Ik heb stofjes gebruikt die ik voor mijn verjaardag van Jutta heb gekregen (ook voor de bloemen in het mandje) en het engeltje komt uit een stofje van Gaby.

While you can see the sun shining in the back of the picture, it was pouring outside our house. If your click on the second picture, you can actually see the rain drops. I have never seen this before!

Terwijl achter in de foto de zon schijnt, was het bij ons heel hard aan het regenen. Als je op de tweede foto klikt, kun je zelfs de regendruppels zien. Zoiets heb ik nog nooit gezien!

Blocks I have been working on and a win

Over the past days I have been working on quite some blocks. Here are my first two My Garden blocks without buttons. I decided to make the first one again, because the other one I made was very wrinkly. Theresa, with whom I am making these blocks together, mentioned a way to appliqué. So, I decided to try that. De afgelopen dagen heb ik aan heel wat blokken gewerkt. Hier zijn mijn eerst twee My Garden blokken zonder buttons. Ik heb de eerste opnieuw gemaakt, omdat de andere zo gekreukt was. Dat lag aan de stof waarop ik de stitchery heb gemaakt. Theresa, met wie ik deze blokken maak, maakte mij attent op een bepaalde manier van appliceren. Dat is echt mijn manier! Hier zijn dan mijn elfjes van Gail Pan's patroon Christmas Elves. Nog maar twee stitcheries te gaan, voor de laatste blok. Melanie, Suzie en Diana hebben de stitcheries ook zo goed als af!

A while back, I won this beautiful book from Lisa and Sarah at A Spoonful of Sugar. It is a lovely book, with many many different kinds of projects "that combines a love crafting with desire to help others." Each project exlpains the charity it is made for and where you might want to send a project to also.

Een tijdje geleden heb ik dit prachtige boek van Lisa en Sarah gewonnen van A Spoonful of Sugar. Het is een geweldig boek met heel veel verschillende projecten, "dat de liefde voor handwerken en om andere mensen te helpen combineert." Iedere project omschrijft waarvoor het gemaakt wordt en hoe jij eventueel kunt helpen.

Hou mijn blog in de gaten, want misschien heb ik eerdaags ook wel zo'n giveaway...

On the left Lisa's project for cancer patients who lost their hair and on the right a project by Kathy Mack, who was so kind to donate fabrics for Dromenquilts. One of the quilts is finished and is already with a family. The other quilt will be finished for next year March, when there is another Dromenquilt day in our part of the country.

Links het project van Lisa voor kankerpatiënten die hun haar verloren hebben en rechts een project van Kathy Mack, die ook zo vriendelijk was om stofjes te doneren voor Dromenquilts. De eerste quilt is af en bij een gezin. De andere quilt zal ik afmaken voor maart volgend jaar, wanneer we de volgende Dromenquilt regiodag hebben.

Yesterday we celebrated my father's 84th birthday. Happy Birthday, papa!!! And look at the yummy cakes we had. Decorated so brilliantly!

Gisteren hebben we mijn vader's 84e verjaardag gevierd. Hartelijk gefeliciteerd, papa!!! En kijk eens naar de prachtig opgemaakte taarten. Bijna te zonde om in te snijden. Ze waren heerlijk!

Wednesday flowers in September

Oh dear, it is Wednesday already. I managed to make 4 flowers for my garden this week. The weather wasn't really nice when taking the picture, so the colors aren't really what they should be.

Jeetje, het is alweer woensdag. Deze week heb ik vier bloemen voor mijn voorjaarstuintje kunnen maken. Vanwege het sombere weer, komen de kleuren niet echt uit.

Yesterday Ger and I had our 20th anniversary. Now that is really something to celebrate. We've had our ups and downs, but I think that is good in a relationship.

Gisteren waren Ger en ik 20 jaar getrouwd. Dat is toch echt iets om te vieren. We hebben onze ups en downs gehad, maar ik denk dat dat heel goed is voor een relatie.

Ah, and here are the quilts for the twins next door. Aren't they cute and bright. I love them! I am happy I made a Schnibbles with this line too for me. It makes me so happy!

I washed the quilts after they were finished. The color catchers worked perfectly! And somehow the quilts become more cosy, after they have been in the dryer. I will definitely do this again!

En hier zijn dan eindelijk de quilts voor de tweeling van onze buren. Zijn ze niet lief! Gelukkig heb ik voor mezelf een Schnibbles van deze stofjes gemaakt, want ik word er helemaal blij van.

Nadat de quilts klaar waren heb ik ze gewassen en in de droger op een lage temperatuur gedroogd. De color catchers hebben hun werk uitstekend gedaan! Uit de droger voelen de quilts veel zachter aan.

And look what came with the post last week from Dzintra! A really cute pouch with a very clever 'button'. The outside is so beautifully made, also with different kinds of beads. In real, it looks much and much prettier! Thank you, Dzintra, for this lovely surprise!

En kijk eens wat er vorige week met de post van Dzintra kwam. Een heel schattig tasje met een slimme sluiting. De buitenkant is heel mooi bewerkt. Ook met verschillende soorten kraaltjes. In het echt is die veel mooier! Bedankt, lieve Dzintra voor deze mooie verrassing!
