Getting ready for Christmas

Friday afternoon Ger and I went to Aachen, to enjoy the beautiful weather with a cappuccino and some lovely chocolate cake. After that, we took a nice walk through the city, and look what I found: Advent buttons. I knew directly how I would use them. So, today I made this little quilt for the buttons (o: Can't wait till it is December 1!

I am entering this quilt in Amy's mini quilt challenge. Head over to her blog to see many very very cute mini quilts. You won't be sorry!

Note: I was too late LOL. But head over anyway. Lots of cuteness (o:

Yesterday I saw these geese flying over. I just have a small digital camera, so the pictures aren't that good. I couldn't even get all geese on the picture. The noise they make is always so impressive!

And this is my dear daughter, with whom I skype on a regular basis. I am so happy that the modern communication works so well. Otherwise I would miss her even more. In a few weeks we will finally be able to be with her for several days (o:    Doesn't she look happy!

En hier is mijn lieve dochter. We skypen regelmatig.

She's a doll!! I'm glad she is having so much fun in Mexico and that you will be able to take a trip to see her. Won't be long now! My daughter and I Skype, too, and it sure saves on the long distance bill. I am loving what you did with the advent buttons. you are so darned clever! Any idea what kind of geese those are?~karen

Cute little quilt! The flying geese in formation always means a change of seasons as they migrate from up here in Autumn and come back with the Spring.
Your daughter looks happy - you must be able to see how she really feels when you talk to her on skype.

Great little advent calendar! My son's girlfriend skypes with her family in Germany all the time! Makes being away from home a little easier. Looking forward to them being with us for Christmas!

What a clever idea! I need to keep my eye out for some buttons like that - thanks for the inspiration! And I hope the time flys until you & your daughter are together again.

Great buttons! I love the little quilt you made for them. I don't think I have ever seen a long gaggle of geese like that. Many of our geese don't bother to fly south. As long as people put food out for them, they stay. Isn't Skype wonderful? Glad your DD is enjoying her stay in Mexico.

We dont have geese here - so I am envious!

Yes, she looks happy and I bet you too! Your little quilt is darling, the buttons are just perfect. Now that the geese are flying south we'd better have our quilts ready to warm us up!

I love your little advent button quilt. That is as cute as can be. That is a huge flock of geese. I don't think I've ever seen one as big. I've never used skype but how wonderful to be able to see your daughter even when she can't be there.

Ganz liebe Grüße an dich, deine Jutta
