Schnibbles, Valentine's Heart, Snow and Puzzle

I finished the top of the February Schnibbles "Sunday Best". The pattern is perfectly described. Every single part of it fit together in the right way. Carrie does a wonderful job with her sewing AND ironing directions!!!
Now, this is a 'difficult' quilt for me. Not due to the double bow tie, but due to the fabrics I used. These are definitely not my colors. Yet, I do think I created a good balance, which makes it very acceptable to me and I am quite suprised by the way it turned out. The outside border gives the finishing touch. The more I look at it, the more I like it.
The line I used: 3's Company Quilt Club Yardage by Thimbleberries for RJR Fabrics.

I made this little tea-mug-mat for Laura. I did some experimenting with machine quilting.

Now, we have had quite some snow over the past few days. I don't think we have has so much in one winter. These pictures were taken 2 weeks ago, when we had sun. For the last few days we have seen no sun here. I couldn't even go to the QB, since I don't like driving in the snow )O:

Footsteps in the snow. A rabbit or a deer (Ger's wishful thinking)?

Now in my last post I told you about the book "Stephen Fry in America". When I started reading about the different States, I once again noticed that I am a visual person. So, I searched for a puzzle that I bought the last time we were in California. It was supposed to be a present, but I'm happy I kept it.
Did you know that Maine is surrounded by only one State? And that Americans often compare a size with Rhode Island? I'm really enjoying this book and I am planning to remember every State with its capital and some characteristics. Before the actual elections, you have primaries and New Hampshire has the primary primary. Brain training for me (O:

De 'primary primary' wordt in New Hampshire gehouden. Brain training voor mij (O:

Lovely Schnibble and tea mug! Your snow picture look much the same as it was here on Friday. We rarely have snow in Georgia and we had 4 inches! It was like a holiday!

I love good ironing directions! Your quilt is wonderful and I agree with you that you found good balance with it. I'm sure Laura just loves her tea mug mat. She'll think of you and how much you love her every time she looks at it.

Your snow looks so pretty! Nothing like that here where I am at all though most of the country seems to have loads of snow these days.

Happy Valentines Day!

En een lieve thee-onderzetter. Het machinequilten is je goed gelukt!
Mooie sneeuwfoto's!!

What an unusual pattern the bow tie can form. I'm impressed with the shapes.

What a cute mat for Laura for Valentine's Day.

Your snow looks so pretty in the sun. I bet now you would like to see less of it. It's been a long Winter.

Simone, that bow tie quilt is so pretty. Lucky Laura to have her mom make her a mug mat - with a heart too. I'm sure she will think of you often when she uses it and the book she got you sounds like a lot of fun.

you certainly do have good balance with your schnibbles, they look really delightful little quilts. I have been playing around with machine quilting also, I Googled "machine quilting" and it came up with some wonderful you-tube videos that were really informative.
The snow looks great, but I too am glad it is summer here!

Hi Simone,
your quilt is great...can imagine, that you loved it more and more while finishing it....
Your snow pictures are lovely...we have got a lot of footsteps in the snow. At the moment our mountains of snow are very hard because of the deep temperatures (tonight -10°) and a lot of deer and birds and other animals are dying because of hunger....We feed the birds as good as we can....
How many states have you already visited in the USA??? Which one or ones does you like most??
Have you got any ancestors in the States???
Best wishes
Iris

I will apologise now for the obvious mistakes in my writing...but I just wanted to say how wonderful it is to read and see your work in the Dutch language, I think that your blog is lovely and wish I could be throwing snowballs with my 'dutch family' right now.

Photos of snow and nature are so pretty to me. We had some snow today. Most of it has melted though.
The little mat you made is great. Good way to practice quilting.
