This and that and a European Virtual Quilting Bee

Today we had a beautiful sunny day. And of course I forgot to take the photos for this post when it was nice and bright. So, sorry about the pictures. The colors aren't what they should be.

Here is my fourth block of Leanne's House, that I am doing together with Jutta. Please go over to her blog and have a look at her Leanne's House block and ... the lovely Autumn stitchery she made for her Stitcher's Angel!

This is my 10th block of the Web Sampler Celebration Quilt 4. I still have two more to go, but they haven't been delivered yet.

This is my 8th block of the Christmas Wish stitchery by Gail Pan. I am doing this together with Melanie, Lyn and Karen.

Lyn at Bluebird Quilts
is having a lovely challenge! Three years ago she bought some Vintage Hexagon Blocks made from old worn clothings and she didn't know what to do with them.
Now she came with the lovely idea to preserve these blocks by sending 17 bloggers some of the blocks and letting them make a quilt up to 70 cm x 70 cm, which the participants are allowed to keep! I hope I will be able to join! This is so very special!
The picture was taken from Lyn's blog.

Then go have a look at the blog Block Party. Twelve women in a virtual quilting bee, sewing blocks for one another with blocks designed by some wonderful women. Please go have a look! I was thinking of starting a European Virtual Quilting Bee, to keep the shipping costs down. Is there anyone in Europe who wants to join. If so, please leave behind a comment or send me an email, so that I can start a Quilting Bee. This should be so much fun!!!

Now I need your advise. I am making an Advent calendar for Laura. I am wondering what background I should use. Plain white or the one with the Christmas trees print. The white one is nice and calm, but I think the one with the trees is happier. What do you think?

Melanie and I have decided to make a tablerunner for every season. We have started with the one for Christmas, using this pattern by Alda. Go to her blog and you will find some wonderful tutorials on the left side bar. She just posted a new one yesterday.
The fun part about this pattern is that you eventually have 80 1,5"x 1,5" bonus blocks at the end, from which we will make another quilt. Not sure yet what I will do with them.
Do you recognize the range I used for this tablerunner? It is one of my favorite Christmas ranges this year!

Hello Simone,
you show great things again!!
I would use the trees as background...it is much nicer for Laura. When you make an Advent calendar for me old lady, use the white one...*LOL*....
I love the Web Sampler Celebration Quilt but I know that you know that...:-))
Best wishes from your old Herzblatt

Ooo you have been so busy Simone! Love your Leanne block. Your Noel block looks fab in the star setting. Are you going to do all of them like that?

I like your idea of a European quilting bee. I think it would force me to get more accurate with my sewing.

Is there a sashing for the advent calender? If so I think you could have that plain and the trees fabric for the pocket background.

No doubt, the one with trees Simone! :)))

Oh Simone what a post this is!!! Your blocks are all beautiful...the Celebration block is stunning...I love it!!!
Yes the white background is calmer and other is happier...maybe depends which mood you are in at the time. If you look at them long enough maybe they will 'speak' to you!!! Sometimes this works too I find!!! You will have so much fun...now I'm off to look at the links♥x

Hi Simone,
Your blocks look lovely. As far as Laura's advent calendar is concerned I would go with the one with the trees. I agree it looks happier.
Hugs,
Sharon

Good afternoon Simone! :-)

I really love your quote for today - it rings so true!

You truly are very talented with your patchwork and piecing, sweetheart! If I still lived in Europe I'd belong to your Quilting Bee in a flash! Good luck with it!

Oh, and I like the calendar with the tree background fabric! It's very cheerful!

Heel veel liefs! Vikki xoxo

Simone, most definitely the background with the Christmas trees for Laura's advent calendar. It just adds that extra 'punch.'
You have been busy again.

Hi Simone,
I´m stillstuck on block one with my LH, but I´m not in a hurry. Your christmas wish will turn into something very special, your block looks so nice. And for the advent calendar I would use the white with the trees, it looks so cheerful.

I really like what you've done with your Christmas Wishes block Simone, what do you eventually plan to do with them all? I like the idea of a European quilting been, so count me in please. I'm not certain about the background for your advent calendar, the green trees looks good, but perhaps it might look too busy when you finish it? The white might let the red blocks stand out more - and perhaps you could quilt it with coloured thread so that it wasn't quite so plain.

Love seeing what you're up to. As for advice...I love the block with the trees for the background. :o) Oh is that Figgy Pudding you're using in the last photo? Beautiful.

Liebe Simone,
Ganz liebe Grüße an dich, deine Jutta

Hej Simone,
Oh, you have so many beautiful things on your post again. I love them all;) I also think that the fabric with trees would be better, more cheerful. Your tablerunner will be gorgeous... what is the range which you used? Looks really tempting! And the idea of a quilting Bee is also great!

Messy Karen zei

lots of good stuff you are working on. i am making a few advents with a friend. last week we just cut. tomorrow we make pockers. we are using white. but i also like your little tree print.

Robin (RsIslandCrafts) zei

Love all your blocks. You have been very busy. I like the busier trees for the background :)

Use the christmas trees!

Hello Simone,

Good luck with the quilting bee. I am sure it will be a success. If I can't decide on something I usually leave the material there for a while then you get to see it in daylight and night. Although I do like the material with the trees. Happy days.

Jackie's Stitches zei

Wow! You are working on some lovely blocks! Just gorgeous!

I love the Christmas tree background for the advent calendar. It's not overly busy and like you said - happier than the plain white!

Anoniem zei

Je hebt weer veel onder handen. Wat betreft de advents kalender voor Laura, zou ik de witte met kerstboompjes gebruiken. De laatste foto heb je ook weer mooie stofjes gebruikt.

Simone,
