The cat in the teapot

This weekend I wanted to start a project and finish it. So, I decided to make the teapot designed by Jodi and that I got at her Ric Rac Sews etsy shop. She is closed for a while, getting ready for the Stitches and Crafts show. Go visit her blog. Jodi makes wonderful projects!

I joined Lyn's Make Do Memories Miniature Quilt Challenge and have been working on it quite a lot lately. It is the first time I worked with (half) hexagons. Until now, everything is done by hand, just like the lady who made those hexagon flowers did, but I will machine quilt it, since my left arm and shoulder won't accept it, that I quilt by hand. Does anyone have any suggestions how to sew on the hexagon flowers? Look on Lyn's blog on the right side and see what other ladies have already done with their hexagons.

I so much enjoyed working with hexagons, that I decided to start some blocks myself. The fabrics I used I got at Jackie's Canton Village Quilt Works shop. They are reproductions of 1930 fabrics. Very very pretty!

Heel heel mooi!

This is the second block I made for the Virtual Bee. It makes me happy looking at it (O:

This month's Schnibbles is Tagalong. Since I also want to make a baby quilt for when I go to the States, I decided to use the Tagalong patterns for a baby quilt, so I will be adding a few more blocks and make a wider inner border. Here are some of my preparation for the quilt.

I received the card on the left from Melanie. I thought it looked nice next to the Efteling cards. The rest of the story is only of interest for those who would like to visit the Efteling park.

Like many towns and cities in the Netherlands, Heerlen too has the graffiti problem. On the wall below there used to be a lot of ugly graffiti. Earlier last month there was a graffiti workshop. Doesn't it look great! And it is already like this for 2 weeks. I guess the youth respects it!

At this chappel in Benzerade I often light a candle on our early Sunday morning walk.

This picture shows that the southern part of the province Limburg has hills (I call them mountains when I am on my bike ;o)

Sweet teapot! Love your little purse block too. I love graffiti as art but not the usual type of "tagging" graffiti seen.

Hi Simone,
the teapot looks very funny...a great idea!!! I went to look at Jodi`s blog and I found a lot of very crazy but lovely other ideas...
And I also looked on Lyn`s blog to admire all the hexagon projects...
They all look wonderful and they have so many good ideas how to sew them in different ways..It gave me some great ideas, too.....
Your flowers are marvellous!!! A very good way to use the hexagons.
I hope your arm and shoulder is better now!! I did have the same problems many years ago, when I was writing my thesis....
My professor had the same and sent me to a doctor, who gave me 12 radiations against the lime...(Kalk) in my shoulder and it helped very well!! After that I never had those horrible pain in my shoulder....
Best wishes
Iris

Your teapot is so cute. Good luck with the hexagons. It is not one of my favourite things to do. I do like your hexagon flowers though.
Here in Toronto we have a problem with graffiti too and murals have helped a lot.

Your teapot is so jolly, I'm really tempted to make one as it's so cheerful. I love your hexagon flowers too. I;m just about to start on making a hexagon quilt with the fabrics I got from the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Is the pain in your shoulder and arm something you have all the time?

What beautiful Spring makings. The teapot is so sweet.

Little roadside chapels are so rare in England so it was lovely to see one. The hills are a little like the ones in the Cotswolds- gently rolling. So pretty.
