Zakka project 21

I knew when I bought this card, that I was going to make the zakka frame for it. My frame turned out much simpler than I had initially planned, but it looked the very best this way. Instead of needle and thread, I used glue. And instead of  making a frame, I bought a frame, thanks to the Patchsmith's idea to use an ikea frame. I will soon buy some more of these frames, to make some more frames. It was fun!

This is Bibi's favorite spot, my spot, when I don't sit there. Now that she is getting old, she sleeps more and more. But then, she does have three other places especially for her. And, if we are not at home, she occupies the chairs in which she is not allowed to sit ...

Sweet dreams

This week's Zakka project was the Little Pocket Pillowcase. I decided to make my very own version, being inspired by Amy at Nana Company. She was the lady we designed last week's zakka project and that is how I discovered her blog. Visiting her blog is really worth it. I am working on another free project she offered.

The little bear is made from linen (I think it was Robert Kaufman Quilter's Linen) and I 'copied' the design from here. The inside pillow is made from natural essex linen. It matches very well.

You can find the pattern to the free stitchery here.

At the moment I am working on another project. I loved how this turned out, when I stitched all 10 sides. It's like a little fan, which I can actually use is this weather. Right now in the shade it is 36C (96.8F).

And look at the visitor we had this morning. Quite unusual to find a grasshopper this big. It is actually the first time I saw one this big in the Netherlands. We looked it up. The simply live here ... Anyways, we found it very special.

To get an idea how big it is (cm).

A princess turning 50 in a fairy tale

On Saturday one of my sisters turned 50. We celebrated it with our whole family. Too bad I didn't make any pictures of the lovely family day we had!

When someone turns 50 in our family, we pick a theme. This time it was princesses and fairy tales. As a young girl, my sister always wanted to be a princess and a few years ago she did find her prince, with whom she has lived happily since. A fairy tale come true.

To the theme I made her a fairy tale bag which we filled with 50 lots and lots of presents. I have had the stitcheries for quite a while, but hadn't thought of them anymore. All of a sudden they popped up in my mind. Question: where did I hide put them. After quite some searching, I finally found them, somewhere in the last box I looked inside.

The stitcheries were designed by Capricorn Quilts. Unfortunately her blog doesn't to excist anymore. She used to have lovely BOMs!

This is also the 19th Zakka project. The lady who reviewed the project came up with this lovely idea, to use the bag to put a little plant inside.
Now, my sister wanted a rose for her balcony. However, since it is a 3 hour drive for us to her, we didn't think it a good idea to buy one and take it along. So, I made her wish come partially true like this. She will get her rose in Spring (o:
