Bookmarkers, holder and three more bags

These little elephants are this week's Zakka project. Initially I didn't like the pattern, but after I gave it my own touch, so that it could actually be used as bookmarker, I had to make more than one.
The ones on the left are easier to use than the ones on the right. Guess why.

I sewed the front and back together without a seam, so that it would not become bulky, as the original pattern. I also appliquéd the ears and legs and did not use a button for the eyes. I can't imagine, the designer actually uses bookmarks, because bookmarks should not be thick, according to me.

The bottle holder was last week's Zakka project. Anyone interested?
Interesse?

Debbie encouraged me to try buttonholes. I don't like making button holes. It has been ages ago. But, technique changes and oh my, was it easy to make a buttonhole with my Janome. Thank you, Debbie, for encouraging me!

During the Purse Palooza 2012, this bag was reviewed. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to make it. And here it is. It's a summer bag for my youngest sister.

And the same draw string bag, but this time with six small pockets. I made it for a blogging friend who needed a small bag for the quilting bee she goes to and who loves Japanese fabric and designs.

Graduation time

On Tuesday we celebrated Laura's graduation. It was a lovely day which we ended at a lovely restaurant with yummiest Cuban tapas.

Here we are waiting for the celebration to start. Only my mother could join us, because Laura only had four visitor tickets.

Alleen mijn moeder kon mee, omdat Laura slechts vier tickets had..

I had to add this picture. Father and son look so happy.

I have also made a bag again. This time for my mother. It says summer and Venice all over.

Zakka potholders

This week I wasn't able to sit a lot behind my sewing machine. Laura moved back in with us, after finishing her bachelor, so now I have a smaller sewing space in our bedroom, since I was using Laura's room. I've done lots of reorganizing and there is still lots to do. But, I have my sewing space (((o:
Here are the 2 potholders for this weeks Zakka project. Never thought I would be able to make a round binding - but bias binding does magic!
